Jake Locker to start for Titans at Tampa Bay

Posted:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Mike Munchak ended the questions quickly Monday naming Jake Locker the Titans starting quarterback for their preseason game at Tampa Bay Friday night.

Locker came off the bench at Seattle completing seven of 13 passes for 80 yards.

Matt Hasselbeck started at Seattle and threw two interceptions.

There was broad belief Hasselbeck and Locker would each get a start in the preseason before the team decided on a permanent starter.

It has been an "open" competition at quarterback for the Titans since last season ended and Munchak has said the Titans believe they can win with either player.

The Titans took Locker with the eighth pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Friday night will be his first start as a Titan.
