NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A man was taken into custody following a two-hour stand off Wednesday night at the south Nashville home of an elderly woman.
A barricade was set up around the home on JC Napier Street off Fairfield Avenue after police responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m.
According to Captain Kenneth Walburn, officers attempted to serve nine outstanding warrants against Timothy Gifford who refused to surrender.
Officers were unsure if Gifford was holding the elderly woman against her will.
The SWAT team and negotiators were called in to assist while officers made numerous announcements over a PA system in an attempt to draw him out.
Gifford eventually surrendered without incident.
Police did not immediately release why they were serving the warrants against Gifford.
No one was injured.
