NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The third day of practice got a bit hotter for the Big Blue of Tennessee State University.
The Tigers added shoulder pads on Wednesday morning, which slowed down TSU briefly.
"We took a small step back today," said head coach Rod Reed. "The first day in shoulder pads is always hectic. We succumbed to the heat. The tempo was good starting off, got sloppy in the middle and tailed off in the end."
The Tigers used the third practice day to continue acclimation to the heat and install the schemes for this fall.
Coach Reed saw some progress for his team.
"We are still in the evaluation period," noted Reed. "I think our transfers are making solid progress. Nick Thrasher on the defensive end has been impressive so far. Offensive linemen Rogers Gaines and Kadeem Edwards are getting a big push in the trenches right now."
The Tigers return to the practice field Thursday at 9:15 a.m.
TSU's first scrimmage of fall camp will be Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at the practice field.
