Pastor sentenced to 22 years for sexually assaulting girl

A Davidson County judge sentenced a former pastor to 22 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl in his church.

John Vine was previously found guilty of two counts of aggravated battery and one count of solicitation of a minor.

Authorities previously said Vine was a pastor at Faith United Community Church on Alameda Street when he assaulted a 12-year-old girl whose family he had befriended.

Vine was sentenced to 11 years for each of the aggravated sexual battery charges.

His sentence must be served consecutively at 100%.

He also received a five year sentence for the solicitation charge which will be served concurrent to the 22-year sentence.
