MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -
Murfreesboro police are investigating an attempted kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl.
The teen told police she was walking near Providence Community Corrections in the 300 block of West Main Street around 7 p.m. Tuesday when a man in a white van pulled up and asked her if she needed a ride.
According to the incident report, after the girl replied no, the man reached across the passenger seat, pulled the girl into the van by her hair and drove off.
A block later, police said the girl was able to hit the man, kick open the door and jump out.
Police were called after the teen walked to her home about a mile away.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s with a muscular build and brown hair. He was wearing a blue shirt, jean shorts and dark sunglasses
The investigation is ongoing.
