Although we will still be in the heat & humidity through Thursday, there is some relief on the way in the form of a cold front that should pass across the area Friday morning.
We started talking about this front last weekend when both the GFS and ECMWF models were in agreement about it 6-7 days out and they look like they are still on target.
Check out the midday temps on the map. Nashville was 90 and on its way to mid 90s for highs, while the upper plains were in the 60s.
Now, August cold fronts aren't ever really cold, but if you can drop temperatures from mid 90s/70s for highs/lows, to mid 80s/low-mid 60s highs/lows along with low humidity that would certainly be nice.
I am calling it "August Delight" for Friday PM through the weekend.
We should see a rain chance from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, as well, with the greatest chances coming overnight Thursday through early Friday.
