Phillies top Mike Minor, Atlanta Braves

PHILADELPHIA -

Mike Minor was good, Cole Hamels was better.

Hamels threw a five-hit shutout as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Braves 3-0 in Philadelphia.

Hamels struck out six for the eleventh complete game of his career and his twelfth victory of the season.

Minor gave up three runs and seven hits in seven innings taking his eighth loss of the season.

The big blow came off the bat of Ryan Howard when the Phillies' slugger belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning.

The Braves still lead in the National League Wild Card chase.

They have won eight of their last 11 games.
