NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The Metro council appointed Brenda Wynn as the interim county clerk during a meeting on Tuesday night.
Wynn, who is filling the position following former county clerk John Arriola's resignation, said she plans to make some changes.
"I will do my very best to restore the public's confidence and trust in this office," she said. "I want to ask for an audit of the office, I want to have zero tolerance policy for gratuities. I don't think we should accept any gratuity at all in that office."
Arriola resigned as the Davidson County Clerk in June amid a state investigation over accusations he charged a fee for marriage licenses and pocketed the money.
Wynn previously worked in Congressman Jim Cooper's office.
She will hold the interim position until November when voters take to the polls.
Wynn added she plans to be on the upcoming ballot.
