All 277 panels have now been installed on the I-24 Bridge Rehabilitation project in downtown Nashville.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Construction on Interstate 24 just east of downtown Nashville will soon be a thing of the past.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation says it's right on schedule with its I-24 Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
The project started April 20 and was expected to take 13 weekends to finish. So far, the project is on schedule.
Last weekend, the contractor installed the final 21 panels.
The next scheduled full weekend closure is set for August 24 through August 27 when the contractor plans to pave and seal the roadway.
The shutdown will extend in both directions of I-24, between the Interstate 65 and Interstate 40 interchanges.
Woodland Street and Main Street will also be shutdown to allow crews access to the bridges needing repair work.
I-24 will be open this Saturday, August 11, for the Tomato Arts Festival in east Nashville.
The entire project is expected to be completed by August 31.
