CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
The principal of The Alternative School in Clarksville, Edward Stephens, was arrested Saturday and charged with driving under the influence.
Stephens, 55, was additionally charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence.
According to The Leaf-Chronicle, police clocked Stephens driving 65 miles-per-hour in a 45 miles-per-hour hour zone on Ft. Campbell Blvd.
Officers also observed his truck swerving in all three southbound lanes.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools' spokesperson Elise Shelton said the district would be looking into the issue on Monday.
This is Stephens' first year as principal of The Alternative School.
He is the former principal of Northwest High School, which is also in Clarksville.
