Diane Black
Lou Ann Zelenik
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. -
Diane Black beat Lou Ann Zelenik for the Tennessee congressional position on Thursday night.
Black beat Zelenik in a rematch of the 2010 campaign that featured saturation attack ads on TV. There was no Democrat running in the general election.
With 76% of precincts reporting, Black had 32,028 votes to Zelenik's 14,773, or 32%.
The Black-Zelenik rematch was a bitter campaign filled with accusations of lies on both sides waged in a recent barrage of political ads.
Zelenik claimed Black cast budget votes that cast doubt on her opposition to President Obama's health care law and reducing the national debt.
Black's campaign fired back that those claims were "delusional" and countered that Zelenik didn't really live in the district and supported a tax increase.
