NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Country artist Bucky Covington is set to take his place in the driver's seat for the Legends Car Race on August 11 at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville.
The race will benefit Nashville's Local 140 Firefighters Relief Fund on behalf of the International Association of Firefighters and the non-profit organization Help the Good Guys.
Covington is donating his time to serve as a spokesperson for the organization, which raises money to provide immediate financial relief for firemen, law enforcement officers and their families who are experiencing difficulties due to injury, illness, death or injured in the line of duty.
The upcoming race will be Covington's first time behind the wheel of a racecar while actually competing against other experienced drivers.
Gates will open to the family-friendly event at 2:30 p.m.
An autograph session with Covington is set for 4 p.m., followed by a full band concert at 4:30 p.m.
Covington will race his custom made Legends car beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Fairgrounds Speedway was home to country music star and legendary race car driver Marty Robbins who starred in two movies that were field on the grounds.
