Neighbors alert family of apartment fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Alert neighbors notified an east Nashville family their apartment was on fire early Tuesday night.

The fire was reported at a complex located at 854 South Eighth Court, near Dew Street around 7 p.m.

Officials reported the family was at home when the blaze sparked on the second floor of their unit.

The family was able to escape without injury.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency is providing assistance.
