Penn State loses running back

PENNSYLVANIA -

Running back Silas Redd is running out of Happy Valley.

In the wake of NCAA sanctions, Penn State's Redd announced Tuesday he's transferring to Southern California where he'll play for former Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin.

Redd is allowed to play immediately after the NCAA gave PSU players the green light to transfer following sanctions in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal.

He rushed for over 1,200 yards and seven touchdowns last season and has two years of eligibility remaining.

He's the highest profile player to leave the Penn State program since the sanctions were handed out.
