Semi-truck collides with car on I-65, 3 injured

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

Three people were injured in a serious accident on Interstate 65 North in Franklin Tuesday morning.

Emergence responders were summoned to the scene of the crash at mile marker 67 near the McEwen Drive exit around 5:30 a.m.

Franklin police said the driver of a semi-truck rear ended a small red car.

All three occupants of the car, a 66-year-old man, and two women, ages 50 and 62, suffered serious injuries and were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

All three occupants are from Alabama.

The driver of the semi, also from Alabama, was not injured.

The northbound lanes of I-65 were affected with the right three lanes blocked.

Drivers were urged to take alternate routes while crews work to clear the scene.

The interstate reopened just before 10 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
