Explosion costs Opryland Hotel $1.3M in profits

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The accidental explosion that occurred at Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center last month is estimated to have cost the company more than a million dollars.

According to Gaylord Entertainment's preliminary second quarter result, the incident resulted in a $1.3 million loss.

Investigators have since determined the blast was caused by a leak in a heat exchange that allowed natural gas to mix with steam in a line.

Around 5,000 guests were forced to evacuate hotel on the night of June 19 due to the explosion.

No injuries were reported.

Hotel officials estimated the incident caused $750,000 worth of damage to the building.
