SMYRNA, Tenn. -
A mother and son appeared before a judge in Smyrna Thursday afternoon on charges related to the shooting death of the mother's boyfriend.
Christina Magaddino and her son, 20-year-old Ryan Allen Roe, both waived their right to a preliminary hearing and the case was bound over to the grand jury.
Magaddino, 36, and Roe were arrested in the death of 38-year-old Steven Carlton earlier this month.
Carlton's body was recovered from a boat ramp on Percy Priest Lake on the afternoon of July 14.
Police charged Roe with first degree murder and his mother was charged as an accessory after the fact of murder.
Both are charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting, but have said that Magaddino helped her son move Carlton's body from her apartment where police believe the shooting took place.
Magaddino's bond is set at $25,000. Her son's bond is $250,000.
A court date for their next appearance was not set.
