A Nashville man with 53 previous convictions on his record was arrested on a robbery charge Wednesday morning outside a downtown bar.
Martin Harvey was taken into custody after he allegedly fought a Michigan man and took his cell phone around 1:30 a.m.
The 26-year-old victim reported when he left the Beer Sellar on Church Street, Harvey followed him and asked him for money before he repeatedly began punching the man and fleeing with his cell phone.
Officers located Harvey a short time later at Third Avenue South and Demonbreun Street.
The victim and Harvey both received treatment for minor injuries sustained in the fight.
Harvey is jailed in lieu of $40,000 bond.
His previous convictions include theft, resisting police, drug possession, prostitution, drug paraphernalia possession, criminal trespassing, motor vehicle burglary and assault.
