HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. -

A 20-year-old was arrested early Wednesday after police said he broke into at least two apartments in Hendersonville.

Police said one of the residents awoke around 4:15 a.m. to find Michael McKissick in her apartment located at 1037 Center Point Road.

"From what we understand she was inside her apartment when she awoke she found someone in her bedroom," Sgt. Jim Vaughn said. "There has to be a degree of fear when you wake up and there is a guy inside your house. From what I understand it was frightening to her."

Officers quickly responded to the scene and were able to apprehend McKissack, who tried to flee.

Police said their investigation revealed McKissack had covertly entered or tried to enter at least two other apartments in the same complex.

"He told law enforcement he was there visiting people, when he actually had broken into their apartments," Vaughn said.

McKissack was found to be in possession of a stolen iPod from one of the units.

He was charged with three counts of aggravated burglary, simple assault, theft and vandalism and booked into the Sumner County jail.

He is scheduled to appear in court September 12.

Authorities said McKissack was arrested in Goodlettsville last November for DUI and for driving without a license.

Police said he failed to appear in court on those charges.
