PRICEVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a north Alabama man is charged with cooking methamphetamine in the home he shares with his mother, who has cancer.

Police say the owner of the home didn't know any drug activity was taking place as she battles pancreatic cancer.

WAFF-TV reports that Blaine Childers and two friends are charged with making a controlled substance in the home of Childers' mom in Priceville.

Sheriff Ann Franklin says Childers' mother goes out daily for chemotherapy treatments and didn't know she was also around dangerous chemicals at home.

Court records aren't available to show whether any of the people who were arrested have lawyers.

One of the suspects also is charged with tampering with evidence for allegedly trying to destroy drugs as police arrived.
