NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The busy intersection of Thompson Lane and Nolensville Road reopened Friday afternoon after a suspicious package was left behind by a robber at a south Nashville business.

Metro police said around 2:30 p.m. a man entered the Check into Cash located at 224 Thompson Lane and demanded money.

Before fleeing, investigators said he left a suspicious device behind.

Unsure what the package contained, officers evacuated the building.

Authorities sent in a robot just before 4 p.m. to inspect and remove the device.

Police told Nashville's News 2 the suspicious device was three road flares, bundled together with tape and wires to resemble an explosive device.

Police determined the device was not an actual explosive device and removed it from the business.

A nearby Walgreens and other area businesses were also evacuated as a precaution.

Thompson Lane at Nolensville Road reopened just before 5 p.m.

Police are continuing to search for the suspect who is described as a black male who is five feet, eight inches tall and weighs around 190 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a dreadlock wig attached to a crochet cap.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
