The humidity is almost unbearable out there this evening. At 4:00PM the actual temperature in Nashville was 95 degrees, but when the humidity was factored in the heat index was 108!!
It will feel like a steam bath out there this evening and overnight. It would surprise me if the heat index is still between 95 and 100 around 9 o'clock this evening. The low will eventually make it to the mid 70s but it will be MUGGY!
We have a cold front sliding in from the north of Friday that will bring at least brief relief from the humid conditions. There are some isolated storms in central KY as of 6:30 that are moving south and could hold together long enough to bring some rain to areas in our northern and northwestern counties this evening.
The rest of us will have a good shot at t'storms on Friday as the front passes through. It could start early in the morning, but most of the storms will be well south and east of Nashville by mid to late afternoon.
These storms will bring torrential rains in localized areas which could cause some flash flooding. Also, hail, frequent lightning and even some spots of strong winds could mean problems for some.
We will have the very latest on the timing of this system on News 2 at 10.
