GALLATIN, Tenn. -
Gallatin police are investigating after an elderly woman's purse was stolen in the parking lot of the Walmart store on Nashville Pike Wednesday night.
According to a police department news release, a black male followed the woman from the store into the parking lot.
Once in the parking lot, the suspect opened the driver side door for the female who entered the vehicle, laying her purse on the passenger seat.
Police said the man went around the vehicle and reached through the open passenger window and stole the purse.
He fled on foot before leaving the parking lot in a gray or silver four-door vehicle.
The suspect is described as black male with a goatee and a thin build. He is approximately six feet tall and weighs around 180 pounds.
At the time of the incident he was wearing a black and white tank top, khaki shorts and a white Oakland A's baseball cap.
