LEBANON, Tenn. -

Lebanon police are seeking the public's help identifying and locating the woman who attacked a shopper outside a local grocery store Tuesday night and stole her purse.

Shortly after 9 p.m., investigators said the woman was loading her groceries into the trunk of her car outside the Kroger store on West Main Street when she was approached from behind by a younger white female with long blonde hair.

The offender told the victim to give up her purse or she would be harmed.

As the offender grabbed the purse and tried to get away, the victim fought back and a struggle took place.

The offender managed to get the purse away from the victim and got into a vehicle that pulled up beside them as they struggled, police said.

"I think they were hoping that she could just grab the purse, but the shopper turned and that is why the struggle ensued," Police Chief Scott Bowen said. "You can tell they planned this, no doubt about it."

The female shopper was thrown to the ground as the vehicle sped away but was not seriously injured.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored four-door sedan with tinted windows.

It was driven by a white male accomplice.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Lebanon police at 615-444-2323.
