A Lewisburg man accused of trying to kill his girlfriend by pouring a pot of hot cooking oil on her while she was sleeping in April of 2011 was found guilty Friday night.
The verdict was reached just before 8 p.m. after about an hour of deliberation.
Thirty-five-year-old Ryan Haase was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder.
His former girlfriend, 24-year-old Lindsay Arp, testified Thursday about the night that changed her life forever.
"I was nervous, but I knew I had God on my side. I understand the damage he has done," Arp said.
Arp, a mother of three, suffered severe burns to more than 35% of her body including to her face, neck, chest and arms.
She spent several months in the hospital and has had 13 surgeries and numerous other medical procedures since the incident.
The young mother, who is severely disfigured, has since lost her health insurance and is in need of treatment by a burn doctor.
Haase told the jury he was not thinking when he threw the boiling oil on Arp and that he lost control.
The couple had reportedly been having problems when the incident occurred.
"I felt like I could not get out. He threatened me almost everyday," Arp said.
Authorities previously called the incident the worst case of domestic they have ever worked.
Haase is scheduled to be sentenced on October 1.
