NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A female driver faces her third DUI charge after crashing into a telephone pole early Thursday morning in Davidson County.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. on Kirkwood Avenue near Franklin Pike in Berry Hill, south of downtown Nashville.

The driver, 27-year-old Ashley Moore, told officers she was texting while driving.

Police said they checked her phone and discovered she was not texting and it appeared she had been drinking.

Officers discovered an empty case of Coors Light in the back bed of her truck and reported she smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.

Moore received a head wound and was taken to the hospital where a blood test was performed.

A misdemeanor citation for driving under the influence was issued and Moore must surrender herself to the police department after she is released from the hospital.

The telephone pole was not damaged in the accident and no power outages were reported.
