SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. -
A suspect wielding a shotgun is in the hospital Thursday morning after an officer responding to a suicide call fired a shot at the man.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 800 block of Hillside Drive off of White House Road in Springfield, Robertson County.
Police when officers arrived, William Dove fired a shotgun round into the front door.
Officers went through the back door to confront the man who turned the shotgun toward authorities, prompting an officer to fire a shot at the suspect.
The round hit Dove in the shoulder.
Emergency medical crews immediately transferred Dove to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
