NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Even with the recent rainfall throughout the state, wildfires still are a major concern in Tennessee.
Officials from the State Department of Forestry told Nashville's News 2 Tennessee's fire season typically is from October to May.
Currently this year, the state has reported 755 wildfires, which has burned nearly 6,000 acres.
According to officials, planned burns are a major cause for the increase in wildfires in 2012.
State officials said they urge residents to visit BurnSafeTN.org for information about controlled burns and an updated list of burn bans.
