Temperatures are soaring, but preparations are well underway at Gaylord Opryland Resort for its 29th annual A Country Christmas beginning November 16 running through January 1, 2013.
Ken Groneck, Director of Special Events at Opryland, told Nashville's News 2, beginning in mid-June and July, hotel staff spend the remainder of the year working on Christmas decorations.
Over the course of the next four months the hotel will hang roughly two million lights and string 15 miles of garland.
Country music superstar Lorrie Morgan will be on hand this year for Lorrie Morgan's Enchanted Christmas Dinner and Show.
The Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes will return for 2012 as will the Holly Jolly Town Square, Holly Jolly Town Square, offering visitors a step back in time to a nostalgic 1950s town square.
This year's ICE! exhibit will be themed Shrek the Halls featuring characters from DreamWorks' Shrek.
"We're [going to] have a lot of surprises. One of the things we try to do every year is bring something new and this year we have several new things we're bringing to Christmas here at Opryland," Groneck told Nashville's News 2.
He added, "We're making a move with the location of one of the most beloved attractions we had last year, and that's gingerbread decorating with Gingy from Shrek. He's [going to] be over in the Gaylord Opryland Event Center where we will do our ICE this year."
