A man was shot and later died and his girlfriend injured in a shooting late Tuesday night in south Nashville.
The shooting occurred at the Prestige Point Apartments located at 200 Paragon Mills Road around 9:30 p.m.
According to a news release, Shorish Faraj and his girlfriend, Guadalupe Garcia, were returning home from a trip to a nearby tobacco store when they were approached by a gunman who opened fire.
Neighbors heard the gunshots and called police.
Authorities said Faraj, 28, was shot in the abdomen and Garcia, 46, was shot in her foot and leg.
Both victims were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where Faraj died from his injuries.
Garcia was last listed in stable condition.
The suspect was described as a black male with dreadlocks and was seeing driving a newer model silver or gray Impala with a spoiler.
Metro police said Faraj was named in the recent gang injunction filed against certain alleged members of the Kurdish Pride Gang.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
