MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

A lightning strike is believed to have sparked a house fire during a fast moving, powerful storm in Murfreesboro Monday night.

The fire was reported around 7 p.m. at a home located in the 3000 block of Regency Park Drive.

Upon arriving to the scene, firefighters reported heavy smoke coming from the roof.

Officials believed the fire sparked in the home's attic.

Crews were able to contain the damage to the attic and bedrooms.

Less than a half mile away, the storms caused other damage near Siegel High School.

The Tennessean reported that several trees were knocked down and heavy limbs blocked sidewalks and roadways.

A sign at the high school was also blown from its side columns and some nearby utility poles were leaning.

No injuries were immediately reported from the storm.
