MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -
The 35th annual Uncle Dave Macon Days festival wrapped up Sunday in Rutherford County.
Located just a couple of blocks from the square in Murfreesboro, the three-day festival is held each year in historic Cannonsburgh Village.
"When you come here to this festival, the rhythm gets to you," Uncle Dave Macon Days organizer Ralph Vaughn told Nashville's News 2 Friday. "You start clapping your hands or patting your foot. It's just kind of a universal thing, I believe."
The economic impact is about $2 million for Murfreesboro if you count the restaurants, hotels and all the business benefiting from visitors.
The festival should have 40 states represented, Vaughn said.
"I think folks are real interested in authenticity, they're interested in family fun," Uncle Dave Macon Days organizer Gloria Christy added. "They're coming from all over the world, just to experience these three days on this little patch of ground in Cannonsburgh [Village]."
In addition to the music and the dancing, festival organizers say Uncle Dave Macon Days is all about three things: fun, family and funnel cake.
Admission was $5 Friday and Saturday or $8 for both days. Kids under 12 were free.
Sunday's festival day was free for all ages.
