MT. JULIET, Tenn. -
A traffic stop conducted by Mt. Juliet police last week led officers to a marijuana grow operation located less than 300 feet from a church daycare.
The discovery was made Tuesday, July 3, after a woman was pulled over for having an expired tag and claimed she had been assaulted by her husband.
Detectives went to the woman's home and interviewed her husband, Timothy Wethington.
Upon entering the house, officers observed a strong smell of marijuana.
Eight marijuana plants were later discovered growing in the backyard. Rolling papers, marijuana seeds, pipes and digital scales were also found in the residence.
Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church is located less than 300 feet away from the home and Green Hill Church is less than 900 feet away.
Both churches operate daycares.
Wethington, 46, was arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an illegal synthetic drug and having the drugs within a drug-free school zone.
Additional information was not released.
