Jared Taylor is helping raise food donations for Greenhouse Ministries.
SMYRNA, Tenn. -
A Rutherford County food pantry in dire need of donations is getting a helping hand from an 11-year-old boy.
Jared Taylor decided to help Greenhouse Ministries collect food after his mother told him of their low food supplies.
"She said they have no food on their shelves, so I'm like we need to do something about that," he said.
In an effort to collect non-perishable food, Taylor composed a letter to give to neighbors and to distribute throughout his hometown of Smyrna, alerting other residents of the need.
"I would like to collect as many food items as possible for their food pantry," Taylor told Nashville's News 2. "It makes me feel good inside to help the needy people and it just makes me feel good."
Due to Taylor's hard work, donations to the food pantry can also be made at Second Look Consignment located at 289 North Lowry Street in Smyrna.
Greenhouse Ministries is in need of things such as pasta, dried beans, peanut butter and other non-perishable items.
Greenhouse Ministries is located at 309 South Spring Street in Murfreesboro.
