NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
The water park Nashville Shores recently opened up a new zip line course that park officials hope will attract a more regional draw.
The new Treetop Adventure Park features 10 zip lines that are 50 feet high and 600 feet across.
"[There are] five ropes courses with over 100 obstacles from Tarzan swings, swinging bridges, cargo nets, all kinds of different things and challenges," explained Daniel Strobel, adding, "We also got these two zips which are over 600 feet long, which are the longest in Nashville."
He continued, "A lot of people don't know there is 385 acres out here at Nashville Shores so we were looking for another attraction that people and families and groups could come out and enjoy."
People have been coming out in droves to enjoy the water park in an attempt to cool off from triple digit heat.
"Attendance has been great with the heat, the record temperatures and people are still looking for ways to cool off this summer," said Strobel.
He explained the treetop park provides a different way to stay cool on the property other than going into the water.
"You swing through the trees, you zip through the trees. We are in the woods [and] it's a lot of shaded area," he said.
While the courses may look frightening and challenging, Strobel said you don't have to be a professional swinger or climber to play.
Courses vary in difficulty for all ages and abilities.
"All you really need is a willingness to try it and a spirit of adventure," he explained.
For the next couple of weeks, The Treetop Adventure Park is offering a 2-for-1 special.
