William Stokes, 25, died Tuesday.
Rico Boyce is charged with criminal homicide in the shooting.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Police believe the weapon used to kill William Stokes Monday night on Patton Hill Road was tossed behind a boarded up home on Brickmont Court and later picked up by someone.
Stokes, 25, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center following the shooting. He died Tuesday after surgery.
Rico Boyce was arrested Wednesday and charged with criminal homicide for the crime.
Detectives think the .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol used in the shooting may have been picked up by a young person who was in the area on Monday night.
Police stress the person who found the pistol is not in trouble, but they are urged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 74-CRIME and return the gun.
A reward is being offered.
