Tennessee trooper suffers heart attack, dies on duty

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -

A Tennessee State Trooper died Friday while on duty in the Cookeville District.

Trooper Ronnie Hale, 57, was stationed in White County when he suffered a heart attack.

The 15-year veteran died while being transported to the hospital by emergency medical personnel.

"It is a very sad day for the Tennessee Highway Patrol family," Colonel Tracy Trott said in a news release.  "Our prayers go out to his family during this difficult time."

A native of Crossville, Trooper Hale started his career as a state trooper in 1997 in Williamson County.

He also served Cumberland and Van Buren counties before his assignment to White County.

Hale is survived by two children and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
