MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - An East Memphis man has been charged with reckless homicide after his son was fatally shot in the head.
Police say 60-year-old Hershel Jones was showing his son, Rodney Jones, his gun when it fired and struck him. When officers arrived at the scene on Wednesday, they found a revolver on top of a dresser with a used shell casing.
The Commercial Appeal reports that Hershel Jones told officers he accidentally shot his son while he was showing him how to use the gun.
Jones was jailed on a $100,000 bond. Rodney Jones' death has been ruled a homicide.
