Area fitness trainer recommends Bod Pod in quest to become fit

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

In the quest to lose weight, many men and women become obsessed with the bathroom scale and will constantly monitor every pound they lose or gained.

However, according to fitness experts, the scale can be your worst enemy when trying to shed unwanted pounds.

Nashville fitness trainer Reggie Lewis of Ideal You told Nashville's News 2 he is telling his clients to step off the scale and try the latest in fitness technology.

The Bod Pod is a futuristic looking machine that measures body composition, which is the amount of fat a person has compared to muscle.

The machine measures the amount of air your body displaces, and according to Lewis, it is just as accurate as underwater weighing without having to get into a tank of water.

The machine monitors loss in body fat and muscle gain, information a bathroom scale does not provide.

"It's a lot less evasive, any one can use this so if you have an injury or if you're just afraid of water," Lewis said.

Lewis said while a scale can sometimes be discouraging when results are not seen, the Bod Pod shows hard work paying off.

"So you may not have lost any weight, but you may have lost fat and gained muscle as a result of the program," he explained.

Bod Pod testing costs between $30 and $50.
