MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Memphis police have discovered the body of a 3-year-old boy in a large trash bin but have not said whether he's the missing child authorities have been looking for since Sunday night.
Police Director Toney Armstrong told reporters Tuesday that the body hasn't been identified and that police "still have a lot of work to do" before releasing more information.
According to documents, police found blood in the home of Maurice Brown Jr.'s father, who had reported him missing. The father, Maurice Brown Sr., told police he had fallen asleep for about 1 1/2 hours and awoke to find a door open and the boy gone Sunday night.
But a police affidavit says a witness saw the man leaving his apartment with the child draped over his shoulder.
