NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
On Monday, the Nashville Fire Marshal's Investigator met with representatives of the Gaylord Opryland Resort to inspect some mechanical equipment thought to have malfunctioned, possibly causing an explosion last month.
The incident occurred at the hotel on June 19 and forced around 5,000 guests to evacuate the premises.
Officials said after the examination, it was determined a leak in a heat exchanger allowed natural gas to mix with steam in a line and that the incident was accidental.
The heat exchanger will be set to a laboratory in Atlanta for further testing in an effort to determine the exact cause of the failure.
Hotel officials said initial damage estimates are around $750,000 and repairs are underway.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
No additional information was released.
