LEBANON, Tenn. -
Lebanon city officials have issued a voluntary water reduction plan.
This means all water customers in the city should limit their use of water, especially in irrigation of landscaped areas with hose-end sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems.
The city requests that residents whose home address ends with an even number only water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Those with an address ending in an odd number should water only on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Lebanon residents are also encouraged to limit car washing and reduce water use for recreational purposes.
Because this plan is voluntary, there are no charges or fines for violators.
Similar water reductions are requested of the Wilson County Water, Wastewater Authority and Laguardo Utility District.
This plan is part of the Lebanon's water system conservation contingency plan.
Officials told Nashville's News 2 that whenever the district pumps out water at 75% capacity for more than seven days, a voluntary reduction must be issued.
While Monday's rain did help, it was not enough to stop the conservation request.
Public Works will continue to monitor the situation.
