Actor Andy Griffith dies at age 86

Reports show Actor Andy Griffith has died Tuesday morning at the age of 86.

According to a report on USAToday.com, close friend Bill Friday confirmed to WITN News that Griffith died around 7 a.m. at his home in Dare County, North Carolina.

Griffith launched to fame after starring in the 1960s TV comedy The Andy Griffith Show as Sheriff Andy Taylor.

He also starred in other shows and films, but is also well known for his role as the title character, Ben Matlock, in the legal drama Matlock in the 1980s.
