MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Following a recent list of fireworks and burn bans, a city in Rutherford County joined the list early Monday morning.

The city of Murfreesboro unanimously approved a fireworks ban following a city council meeting. Those who violate the ban will face a $50 fine, in addition to a $113.50 court fee

Professional fireworks shows, which operate under a state fire marshal permit, are exempt, which allows the ‘Celebration Under the Stars' to continue Wednesday as planned.

In preparation of the city's annual Fourth of July event, the fire department will hose down a 700 foot area around the fireworks shoot area.

Dickson, Burns, Charlotte and Clarksville, among other communities previously set fireworks bans just prior to Fourth of July.

Early Monday afternoon, the town in Smyrna also announced plans to ban the use of the private use of fireworks.
