A motorist found Erika Megan Sharpton's body along a road in Franklin County on Monday.
TULLAHOMA, Tenn. -
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has identified the body of a woman found on the side of the road early Monday morning.
Reports first indicated that a motorist noticed a grass fire around 1:15 a.m. near the Awalt Road Bridge in Franklin County.
As they turned around to confirm the fire, they noticed a woman who was partially burned lying on the side of the road.
Tuesday morning, police identified the woman as Erika Megan Sharpton, from Tullahoma.
Her death has been ruled a homicide.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Franklin County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.
