2 teens charged in overnight carjacking

Metro police have charged two juveniles with aggravated robbery for their alleged involvement in an overnight carjacking.

The incident involving the two 16-year-old males occurred just before Midnight in a parking lot in the 700 block of Lewis Street in the N.C. Napier public housing development.

Police reported the 23-year-old victim was approached by three men who demanded his rental car and other belongings at gunpoint.

The victim complied with the demands.

Officers located the vehicle in downtown Nashville a short time later.

A short pursuit occurred before the vehicle struck a pedestrian, who was identified as 22-year-old Rafferty Hatfield, at the intersection of Broadway and Second Avenue North and a parked SUV.

Hatfield was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries. He has since been released.

Police located the two teens after a short foot-pursuit around 1:45 a.m.
