KINGSTON SPRINGS, Tenn. -
A home in Kingston Springs was completely destroyed by a massive blaze early Thursday morning.
Fire crews were called to the 6,000 square foot home on Webb Ridge Road located between Highway 100 and Interstate 40 near the Cheatham County line just before 4:30 a.m.
When first responders arrived, they discovered the owner of the home standing on the front porch with a garden hose, attempting to extinguish the fire.
According to the fire chief, before crews could spray water on the flames, the fire spread to the upper portion of the house and then spread rapidly from end to end and front to back.
Officials told Nashville's News 2 there was little they could do at that point.
Crews were eventually able to connect to the closest hydrant, which was over a mile away. Even then, the water pressure was low.
Fire engines trucked in roughly 2,000 to 3,000 gallons per truck and said it was still not enough to stop the fire before the entire home was consumed by the blaze.
Officials told Nashville's News 2 two people were inside the home when the fire began and they both escaped unharmed.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, and the fire marshal to investigate.
Webb Ridge Road was shutdown while crews remained on the scene.
Authorities were unsure how long they would be on the scene, but expected to be there for most of the morning.
It was reported that smoke and flames could be seen miles away, above the tree line.
