LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Authorities say a Kentucky woman used a coffee cup to stop a 23-year-old man who was allegedly raping her 13-year-old daughter.

The Pulaski County sheriff's office says the woman found the man engaged in a sexual encounter with her daughter at her home just before midnight Monday, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

The sheriff's office says the woman attacked him with the cup, causing cuts to his head.

The man, identified as Corey Walter Eugene Hughes of Burnside, fled before deputies arrived but was found nearby and taken into custody.

The sheriff's office says he ran from deputies after being taken to the sheriff's office for questioning.

He remained free until Tuesday morning, when he was found walking in Somerset.

He is charged with first-degree rape and second-degree escape.
