Developer withdraws plans for Bellevue landfill

Posted:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The developer who was interested in opening a new landfill in Bellevue has withdrawn his application.

Developer Mickey Mitchell decided to withdrawal his proposal after learning he did not have the support of Metro Public Works.

Mitchell originally wanted to open the new facility at 7739 Charlotte Pike off of Old Hickory Boulevard near Thousand Oaks Estates.

Last week Metro Board of Zoning Appeals voted to take more time before deciding to approve or deny a zoning request to allow a construction and demolition landfill to move into the area.

Metro is interested in putting in a waste convenience center where residents can take items to be recycled.
