NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Emergency personnel lowered a rope 30 feet to rescue a woman below the Woodland Street Bridge early Wednesday morning.

According to officials on the scene, the woman met a man around Midnight and the two walked to the bridge.

The man told police he solicited the woman who he thought was a prostitute.  The woman, however, claimed she was raped.

Police were called to the bridge after some passersby heard screams.

When officers arrived, they cut through a fence and immediately took the man into custody.

As officers were attempting to talk to the woman she got upset, turned to run away and accidentally fell 30 feet off an overlook.

Rescuers used a rope to pull her back to the bridge.  She was taken to an area hospital where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed.  The investigation is ongoing.

Police told Nashville's News 2 the man was visibly intoxicated.
